- Mrs. V, 6-Week Series & Breastfeeding Support

Welcome to Esali Birth!  I am so happy that you're searching for options to guide you along your perinatal journey.  I offer a variety of mentoring services from pre-conception through postpartum and beyond including Wellness and Herbal counseling.  If you don't see an option listed at the bottom of the page, please don't hesitate to inquire about possibilities - I love thinking outside the box and developing services to meet the needs of each individual situation.  See the above for a basic price and description list, and scroll below for more details.  You can reach me best with inquiries at mdbergum - at- esalibirth - dot - com where I can provide phone contact if needed.

I have been involved in the birth industry since my first birth in 2008 as a Bradley Method student.  Through both empowerment and awareness of so much information I didn't know, I began studying as a childbirth educator with CAPPA (Childbirth and Postpartum Professionals Association).  I then started my own independent birth business, Esali Birth, in 2009.  From there I never stopped learning with education and doula clients as well as books, videos, networking events, and eventually completed herbal training with Sage Mountain Herbal Center in January 2017.  I share a wide variety of concepts including wellness awareness from biomechanist Katy Bowman, Spinning Babies techniques, relaxation, relationship counseling, fear release, birth processing, industry knowledge, an extensive resource library, midwifery collaboration, and so much more.  With these thoughts, I also want families to be aware of the instinctual knowledge they have to birth and to support and focus on making the childbearing journey a more normal part of our lives by dispelling myths, empowering with information, and increasing confidence in mothers and their support team.

Taking an EB class was the best thing I ever did for our family! Not only did I become far more educated than I thought possible about birth (there was so much I would've never learned otherwise) but it opened up a door to meet so many other moms, in my area, that I can connect with.

Insurance Reimbursement

My doula services, including antenatal doula mentoring, labor doula, and postpartum doula care may be reimbursable by your insurance company.  Fees are required to be paid in full and you must submit your own claims; however, I will provide my NPI number and supporting information to help you with your claim submission.  In many cases, a well-written letter explaining how you believe doula support reduced costs for your birth, as well as persistence, will provide you with a reimbursement.  Please contact for any questions.

Financial Arrangements
A deposit is required upon signing an agreement to secure your birth time in my schedule.  Payments are then made according to the scheduled outlined in our agreement.

Perinatal education and doula support is a holistic investment for you, your baby, and your family.  Studies show doula-attended births result in more spontaneous births, lower intervention rates, better breastfeeding rates, and happier families this is both from education received, awareness of options, and continuous care from a trusted ally.  Your birth will change your life whether you plan for that or not.  Education and adequate support can be an immense preventative measure for the health and happiness of you, your baby, and your family's future whether that's by improving your birth experience and/or improving your ability to enjoy and understand your birth experience.  Many insurance companies will reimburse for doula services and you're encouraged to submit a claim.  Though I do not submit claims, I do have an NPI number and provide submission information for clients.

Consultations are free - and by phone and web.  In person meetings are $30/1hr session and often include a little bit of counseling and mentoring as we get to learn each other.  With either option, your main birth partner (if you have one) should be present as much of the communication during the birth will be with them.  Online meetups make this very accessible.

Birth Knowledge Changed my Life

I thank God for providing me with the opportunity to grow in my life journey.  The circumstances that led me to seeking holistic birth knowledge were life changing on a physical, emotional, and spiritual level.  It was nothing less than a well laid plan and I am blessed to be here experiencing your journey with you as I continue mine.  If you'd like to see a small peek into my journey, I invite you to read my personal birth stories.
