Perinatal Mentor - Mid-Ohio Valley

Parkersburg Doula | Ravenswood Doula | Ripley Doula | Charleston Doula | Marietta Doula | Athens Doula | WV Doula | OH Doula | MOV Doula

Providing families with answers to those crazy pregnancy questions, strength through labor, calm for postpartum freak-outs, guidance and resources for all stages of the childbearing years and in-depth education and support along the way - online everywhere and locally in and beyond the Mid-Ohio Valley.

I found Danielle after a frantic search for a doula. I was already 37 weeks when I first contacted her. I know that without the support of Danielle as my doula I wouldn't have made it through and would have ended up with many interventions. She went above and beyond and I'm so so grateful our paths crossed.
I loved my Esali Birth.

Taking an EB class was the best thing I ever did for our family! Not only did I become far more educated than I thought possible about birth (there was so much I would've never learned otherwise) but it opened up a door to meet so many other moms, in my area, that I can connect with.

Insurance Reimbursement

My doula services, including antenatal doula mentoring, labor doula, and postpartum doula care may be reimbursable by your insurance company.  Fees are required to be paid in full and you must submit your own claims; however, I will provide my NPI number and supporting information to help you with your claim submission.  In many cases, a well-written letter explaining how you believe doula support reduced costs for your birth, as well as persistence, will provide you with a reimbursement.  Please contact for any questions.

DOULA SERVICES PRICES & DESCRIPTIONS

Doula packages are based on your personal needs and are more specifically discussed during consultations and as we lay out our doula-client agreement.  The following are basic options with various add-on services available.

Esali Birth Perinatal Mentor Doula Package (~$1000-$1750)

Recommended option that will provide you with the most thorough education and support while allowing us to create a connected relationship over the course of your pregnancy enhancing my ability to support your family through a trusted relationship.  A comprehensively holistic birth class with Esali Birth ensures you have the information that is the most helpful to achieving a happy healthy birth in whatever environment you choose and making sure we're on the same page with what routines may be presented to you and your personal birth philosophy.  I come to you during labor whenever you desire my presence whether that be at home or your desired birth location.  If you're preparing for a home birth and transfer is needed, I will transfer with you.  The final cost of this packaged is based on your planned birth location as each location requires a varied style of doula care as well as the amount of prenatal appointments you desire me to attend throughout your perinatal journey.

  • Access to the complete online self-paced perinatal Esali Birth class until you birth your baby
  • Attendance at prenatal appointments and/or prenatal support at your home (amount is determined by you)
  • Full labor support until first breastfeeding latch and you're ready for private family bonding (with guidance on gentle latch techniques and what to look for over the first few days)

  • Unlimited messaging and phone support

Esali Birth Labor Doula Package (~$500-$1000)

This options is available for mothers that are later in their pregnancy and may not have time for full perinatal mentoring.  I come to you during labor whenever you desire my presence whether that be at home or your desired birth location.    If you're preparing for a home birth and transfer is needed, I will transfer with you.  The final cost of this packaged is based on your birth location as each location requires a varied style of doula care and if you are a former doula client.

Add-on Options

  • Birth Photography - Free - I offer this service to all doula clients, no charge.  I am happy to take photos during prenatal appointments and postpartum as well.  However my focus through your birth will always be your emotional and physical support.  I do not bring props.  Some photos may be grainy...etc. due to the lighting in the birth space which will always take precedence over photos.  You will be provided with high res. photos to print or share as you desire.  If you prefer a certain style of photography or guarantee of certain photos, especially of your newborn or portrait style photos, and a certain amount of photos...etc., I do recommend you hire a professional birth or newborn photographer and I am happy to recommend wonderful local options.
  • Placenta Preparation - $350-$500 - Price depends on if any herbs are used, if you prefer vegan or gelatin capsules, and how you desire your placenta to be processed - Raw, No Steaming, TCM Method, Encapsulated, Tinctured, Loose Powder, Salve...etc.  Options take anywhere from 2 days (dehydrating) to 4 weeks (tinctures and salves) and are typically completed at your home.  This service is scheduled during postpartum visits for breastfeeding support or general care.  All methods will provide you with a small piece of your placenta raw to be stored in the refrigerator for immediate use and until the placenta preparation is complete.  I do not use a coffee grinder for powdering due to possible contamination with other placentas (coffee grinders leave tiny amounts of powder behind under the blades that cannot be fully cleaned, so I use a mortar and pestle which takes extra time).  NOTE: Please read THIS POST on placentophagy and processing your own placenta which includes pros and cons of placenta consumption before deciding if this is right for you.
  • Bengkung Belly Wrap - $500 (custom made traditional bengkung style muslin postpartum wrapping from the hips up to the breast including healing abdominal herbs over the first 5 days after the birth).
  • Perinatal Mani/Pedi - $100-$200 - Relaxing hand and foot nail care with a hand and foot massage to relieve tension and allow us time to connect and build trust before birth or to support you during your postpartum weeks. Also excellent for a blessingway.  Various herbal blends can be used, final price is determined by these spa selections.  I became a licensed manicurist in the state of WV in 2002 and later in MI working in various salons and spas as well as provided home relaxation care.

I accept approximately 3 clients per month.  My radius for labor and birth is within approximately 1.5 hours of zip 26164 (including the Teays Valley Birth Center) though other locations may be available, just ask!   Mentoring and classes are held online as well as Ravenswood or Parkersburg or in your home.

Financial Arrangements
A deposit is required upon signing an agreement to secure your birth time in my schedule.  Payments are then made according to the schedule outlined in our agreement.  Gift Certificates are available and doula support is an excellent item to add to your gift registry.

Perinatal education and doula support is a holistic investment for you, your baby, and your family.  Studies show doula-attended births result in more spontaneous births, lower intervention rates, better breastfeeding rates, and happier families both from education received, awareness of options, and continuous care from a trusted ally.  Your birth will change your life whether you plan for that or not.  Education and adequate support can be an immense preventative measure for the health and happiness of you, your baby, and your family's future whether that's by improving your birth experience and/or improving your ability to enjoy and understand your birth experience.  Many insurance companies will reimburse for doula services and you're encouraged to submit a claim.  Though I do not submit claims, I do have an NPI number and provide submission information for clients.

Consultations are free - and by phone and web.  In person meetings are $30/1hr session and often include a little bit of counseling and mentoring as we get to learn each other.  With either option, your main birth partner (if you have one) should be present as much of the communication during the birth will be with them.  Online meetups make this very accessible.

$300 Standard 10-Session Series

Providing antenatal doula support in the form of information and mentor sharing to reduce birth fear, increase body mobility, and provide choice options is a significant focus of my services.  This doula service provides 20 hours of support online and/or at a location of your choice (within 30 minutes of my home) or at one of my standard class locations.  This is a complete 10-session Esali Birth class (see below for outline or contact for a private custom series).  The online self-paced complete education series is included with this option.  Mid-Ohio Valley local clients receive access to my lending resource library.

$30/Hour - Mentoring Sessions

Mentoring sessions are scheduled through a web-meeting (skype...etc.) allowing support, mentoring, and education world-wide catered to specific topics you're interested in or basic Q&A.  Mentoring sessions are great for pre-conception, prenatal, herbal counseling, and postpartum mentoring for a variety of reasons and are catered to you specifically to answer all your questions, alleviate your concerns, and offer educational guidance for options available.  Contact me to schedule.
